about degano
We are part of an ever changing and very challenging industry, and that’s what we enjoy. The company was founded on April 1 1992 by Mr Didier Le Falhier and Mr Cris Cox in Hope Street, St Helier. Despite the noteworthy date, the act proved far from foolish as over the years we have gone from strength to strength. (Didier’s son Stephen has literally grown up with the company and is now operations manager for the tiling division.)
Our initial objective was to sell and install ceramic tiles and within no time we realised that we could benefit from Jersey’s close proximity to the Continent, expand our range and give our customers the benefit of more competitive pricing and a much wider choice. We now import from France, England, Spain, Italy, India and Thailand, among others.
Our reputation for quality products and superior workmanship rapidly grew and we were nominated to carry out the granite paving and ceramic tiling at Liberation Square. That prestigious assignment was a turning point for the company and lead to our winning many other Waterfront projects, including the Steam Clock, Jardins de la Mer, The new Promenade, The Underground car park roof gardens and the new marina.
We have also developed golf clubs, night clubs, banks and financial buildings, swimming pools, water gardens, schools, public toilets, restaurants, guest houses, private houses (from first time buyers to luxury estates), supermarkets, public houses, health clubs...the list goes on.
As our order books have grown, so have our numbers and we continue to recruit tradesmen and apprentices. In 1995 we moved from town to larger premises in Plat Douet Road, where we were able to open a show room. We have moved to St John.
We believe in natural beauty, the magical colours of water, light and stone, remarkable simplicity and minimalism.
Wherever we work, it is our deepest wish that all who see – enjoy.
